We are looking for you, an ambitious master’s student, to support our Personal Care Technical Service & Development Team located in Seneffe in Belgium, by doing an internship project aiming at evaluating different polymer structures and functionalities in various applications including skin, hair, and color cosmetics. The department that will welcome you is the Personal Care Technical Service & Development Team. With deep market insights and in-depth application expertise, we provide technical support to customers and develop innovative solutions that address current and future customer demands. With a strong background in Formulation and Material Sciences, you will evaluate polymers with different structures and functionalities in various applications including skin, hair, and color cosmetics. You will develop new formulations aligned with market trends and evaluate their performance in application, targeting in particular long-lasting benefits. During the study, you will use relevant analytical tools and testing procedures to measure the performance of the different polymers, understand their mechanism of action and establish structure-properties relationship. Amongst the different materials you will evaluate, your work will specifically focus on a new biodegradable polymer.
Responsibilities
As an intern, you will actively participate in formulation work to develop and optimize product formulations.
You will be responsible for conducting application testing to evaluate product performance.
Your role will involve application method development, where you’ll innovate and refine techniques for more efficient and effective product application.
You will design experimental plans to guide research activities and provide valuable insights for product development.
Data analysis and reporting will be a critical aspect of your responsibilities, involving the interpretation of experimental results and clear presentation of findings.
You will regularly present key results, draw conclusions, and outline the next steps, ensuring the team remains informed and aligned with project objectives.
Qualifications
You are currently studying for a master’s degree or equivalent in Chemistry, Material Sciences or Formulation. Preferable to have education and/or experience in cosmetics.
You have a good working knowledge of English. French language is a plus.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
You are hands-on, eager to learn and a good listener.
You are able to start between February and April 2024 and for a period of 5-6 months (exact date and duration will be discussed).
Preferred Skills
You have experience in Formulation (Cosmetics Formulation will be a plus).
You have a passion for applying innovative ideas and demonstrate curiosity and critical mindset in your activities.
You have strong scientific method, statistics, and project management skills.
You have experience in working in a lab and safety is your priority.
